Heat Treatment ISPM 15

Heat Treatment ISPM 15

Kayutah heat treatment service is certified under the Malaysia Heat Treatment Accreditation Scheme (MAHTAS) and has received accreditation from the Department of Agriculture (DOA) Malaysia and is in compliance with the International Standards of Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) and World Trade Organization (WTO).

Heat Treatment Service can reduce the risk of introduction and the spread of quarantine pests associated with the movement in the international trade of wood packaging material made from raw wood (e.g. pallet wood or plywood). As we know wood packaging materials are known to have negative impacts on forest health and biodiversity. Implementation of this standard is considered to significantly reduce the spread of pests and subsequently their negative impacts. In the absence of alternative treatments being available for certain situations or to all countries.

KAYUTAH Heat Treatment standards are consistently using a specific time-temperature schedule which achieves a minimum wood core temperature of 56°C for more than basic requirement.

💡TIPS (How to store the packing material after heat treatment) :

  1. Storage space must be free of waste wood and not exposed to sun and rain so that no insect infestations happen after heat treatment. Storage space must be at least 5 meters away from untreated woods

  2. Maximum duration for keeping heat-treated wood packaging materials strongly depends on import countries requirements. Therefore, it is important for exporters to refer to importing countries' requirements.
